    Card Class October 2021

We made 4 beautiful cards for our October class using the Stampin’ Up! Quiet Meadow Bundle and Garden Wishes stamp set and dies.

The cards were for ‘all occasions’:

    • Wedding/Engagement
    • Sympathy
    • Get Well, and
    • Thinking of you.

I particularly love the dies in these sets as they are very versatile.

    Wedding/Engagement Card

This card can be used as a wedding, engagement card, possibly even valentine…

I used basic white card stock for the base and basic gray for the contrasting layer which was die cut using the Ornate Layers Dies.

We stamped the background with the textured dots then layered the die cuts popping them up on dimensionals. We finished the card off by adding the ribbon and cord to the greeting and using rhinestones as extra embellishments.

    Thinking of You

This card is perfect for any occasion!

The base is basic white, the 2nd layer is misty moonlight as are the die cuts. The background texture is subtle on the 3rd layer, we used the ‘Time Worn Type’ 3D embossing folder.

The strip of DSP adds a bit of extra colour and the gold cord adds a bit of bling as it’s threaded through the label.

Get Well Soon - Fancy Fold

This was a fun card to make and it’s bound to brighten anyone’s day…

The base is basic white and the colours are Old Olive and Crushed Curry.

The front is cut out using the ‘Stitched so Sweetly’ dies. The card was decorated using the Garden Wishes stamp and Dandy Wishes dies. The bee with the buzzy trail on the inside is a cute surprise!

The label is from the Meadows dies and I used the greeting out of the Timeless Tulips stamp set.

    Sympathy

This card can be used for any occasion by changing the greeting. I really love the white on white with a touch of contrasting basic gray for the greeting and label.

Sadly I used this card to give to a neighbour who’s Dad passed away last week.

We used the gorgeous Dandelions 3D embossing folder as the background and layered a few die cuts over the top. When using liquid glue, I always say ‘less is more’ that avoids getting glue everywhere.

The label was made using the Tasteful Labels and Stitched Rectangle dies, they match perfectly.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these cards if you would like to join us for classes, please check out my class schedule here.

    Pigment Sprinkles Pop Up Class

Last weekend I held a Pigment Sprinkles Pop Up class.

Pigment Sprinkles are intense watercolour pigment crystals (very fine powder). You mix them with water to activate them. They are fantastic for watercolour backgrounds, washes and a variety of techniques which I taught.

There’s six jars in the pack and everyone got their own to keep as well as a 2-pack of Stampin’ Spritzers.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the class and we all got very inky. The great thing is, it’s water based and does wash off in water off your skin and off your clothes!

What I love about pigment sprinkles is that no two cards will ever be the same!

For these cards we heat embossed in white on Fluid 100 Watercolour paper. We then added the sprinkles and spritzed it with water and allowed to dry before finishing off the cards.

For these cards we first spayed the watercolour paper and then added the sprinkles. You have more control over the colour this way. Look at all of the beautiful cards we made.

This card was cased from Anna Wheaton.

It was made using shimmer white paper, this also work very well with lots of water. We wet the plain card base first, then added the Bermuda Bay Sprinkles.

The lily and pad were embossed in black , spritzed with water, sprinkled with different colour pigment and the colour was moved around with an aqua painter.

For this card we used the watercolour paper and embossed the baloons in Copper heat embossing powder. We then spritzed so it was damp.

We sprinkled a tiny bit of pigment of several colours onto a take away container lid, added water to it with the aqua painter and then coloured in the sections with the aqua painter.

For these cards we used the ‘salt technique’.

Once again we used watercolour paper, sprinkled the colour of choice pigment, sprayed it with water so it was very wet then sprinkled salt flakes over the top and let it dry naturally.

The salt flakes create amazing patterns as you can see.

For this last card we spritzed the watercolour paper, added the sprinkles and then brayered to spread the colour over the entire sheet.

When dry, we heat embossed in the gorgeous new sparkling white embossing powder.

We made a total of six cards but we played with another couple of techniques using ironing starch.

It’s a little ironic that I bought the starch as I’m an occasional  ironer… 😅

We used glad wrap and bubble wrap for the effects.

Here’s what I made with some my “practice” samples. These little tags were inspired by Pink Buckaroo. They are simply punched out and attached to the Bird Ballad Die cut.

The ladies got to take these home to make something with.

June 2018 Class – Climbing Orchid

A big THANKYOU to all who came to my classes last week.

We made four cards using the Climbing Orchid stamp set and  Orchid Builder matching Framelits. This beautiful set has carried over from the last catalogue. I bought it a long time ago but only got the chance to play with it recently.

The first card I cased from “Short Cake Scraps”. We used the double layered stamp to create this lovely card. The card base was made using Fresh Fig card stock and card front was on Very Vanilla. The branches were stamped using the new Stamparatus positioning tool.

The second card was inspired by a card in the new  2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! catalogue (pg. 24). I used blushing bride for the card front and stamped the orchid in Melon Mambo ink. The Ruffled 3D dynamic embossing folder created a beautiful background.

The third card is my design. I think the Old Olive matches so well with the new in-colour Grapefruit Grove. Everyone had their own choice of greetings. ‘Thinking of you’ covers a lot of occasions.

The fourth card was inspired by a card on pg 21 of the 2017-2018 catalogue. We distressed the edges of the card front for a little extra texture. The branches were stamped using the new Stamparatus positioning tool.
